What makes JOG unique? The five principles

What distinguishes the Journey of Generosity from other conversations about money and giving? It is intentionally built on five principles that together create the conditions for authentic, lasting transformation:

  • Peers: JOG is a safe environment where participants share their own experiences without preaching or judgment. There are no experts at the front — just a community of people exploring together.
  • Permission: JOG opens space to discuss money and generosity openly, even though these are often considered taboo topics. Participants are given explicit freedom to engage honestly with their own stories and beliefs.
  • Pressure-Free: JOG never asks participants for money or dictates how they should give. There is no solicitation, no collection, and no expectation. Decisions about giving are entirely between the participant and God.
  • Prophetic: JOG delivers a counter-cultural message about biblical generosity — that true freedom and joy are found in giving, not hoarding. This vision is communicated with grace and truth, not guilt.
  • Provocative: Real-life stories of generosity invite participants to reflect on their own lives and choices. These stories are chosen to stir hearts rather than prescribe outcomes.

These five principles work together to create the conditions for genuine encounter. They are the reason JOG consistently produces stories of transformation across cultures, demographics, and economic backgrounds.
