Running the Giving Group Workshop
The Giving Group Workshop is an optional add-on to JOG Plus and JOG Lite, available once participants have expressed a desire to give together as a group. It can be run immediately after the JOG or on a separate day — the group decides.
Workshop overview (approximately 90 minutes–2 hours):
- Host Welcome (5 min): Greet participants; remind them this is a neutral, Spirit-led space with no fundraising pressure.
- Opening Presenter Video (5 min): Plays automatically from the resource folder.
- Setting the Scene – Ephesians 4:16 (10 min): Short devotion and discussion on unity in generosity.
- Five Steps to Form a Giving Group (70 min): Work through the Giving Group Guide PDF and record actions and decisions in the Giving Group Plan.
- Closing Prayer & Reflection (5 min): Commit new ideas and intentions to God.
Before the workshop, review all materials in advance: the 'How to run a Giving Group Workshop' PDF, the opening presenter video, the Giving Group Guide, and the Giving Group Plan. The Giving Group Plan can be printed or completed digitally — ask for a volunteer with a device to edit it during the workshop.
Keep the space free from any direction on where or how people should give. The workshop's outcome must be entirely owned by the group.
After the workshop, encourage the group coordinator to contact the GP regional team to share stories and access further resources on growing their giving strategy. Contact your regional team to report that the workshop has been completed.
