# KB-21A: Steps to prepare for hosting

Hosting a JOG is ministry — you are not teaching a class but creating space for the Holy Spirit to work through conversation, reflection, and story. Preparation has three dimensions:

**Spiritual preparation**

- Begin by inviting the Holy Spirit to guide you. Pray for your own heart and for each person you plan to invite.
- Surrender control: only God can bring transformation. Your role is to prepare the soil, not produce the fruit.
- Build in quiet reflection time in the days before your event.

**Logistical preparation**

- Familiarise yourself with the facilitation guide, session videos, and the Generosity Plan (Session 4). Watch the short training videos in the Host Resources section of the MyJOG Portal.
- For in-person events: arrange seating in circles or small clusters. For groups larger than 12, plan breakout groups of 6–12 people, each with a gentle moderator.
- For online events: test your video conferencing setup (Zoom or Google Meet recommended), screen share, audio, and breakout rooms in advance.
- Print participant notebooks and Generosity Plans if providing physical copies. Test streaming speed if using the portal. Prepare background music for personal reflection moments.

**Relational preparation**

- Pray for God's guidance on who to invite. Use the invitation templates from Promotional Resources on the MyJOG Portal.
- Remind guests the experience is free and there will be no fundraising or pressure.
- Consider setting up a WhatsApp group with attendees for easy communication.

**Next step:**  Download the facilitation guide and review the [Quick Start Checklist](https://kb.generositypath.org/help/host-quick-start-checklist?hsLang=en).
