KB-26A: Engaging different audiences with JOGs
Different audiences respond to different approaches; tailor your JOG format, setting, and invitation language accordingly.
The Journey of Generosity resonates across cultures, professions, and demographics — but how you present it matters. Business leaders may value a concise, well-organised Core experience in a professional setting. Pastors and ministry leaders may prefer a deeper Plus format that explores implications for their congregation. Young adults might engage best with a Lite format in a relaxed, informal environment.
When approaching a new audience, consider what language and framing will resonate. The JOG Audiences guide provides specific suggestions for different groups. Always maintain GP's core commitments — no fundraising, no pressure, no prescriptive giving advice — regardless of the audience.
If you're unsure how to adapt for a specific group, your ROC or Regional Director can advise based on experience in your region.
